The kitchen is DONE!
Just like the the living room, lots of painting was in our future. The crown molding and cabinets were an off white, cream color. We painted the uppers the same bright white that we chose for the walls in the rest of the house. We got stuck on the backsplash though, we could not decide on what to do with it! The brick is lovely, but the red was too loud. So after a few rounds of rock, paper, scissors…we boxed it out. Just kidding, we compromised and painted it for now.
Before starting-
The kitchen island started out a light green color and the two legs were off white with an antique finish. We darkened everything up to a deep and moody charcoal gray. Fun fact, the two legs actually came from an old farmhouse that was in the family for over one hundred years!
Next came painting the lower cabinets. We like the look of two toned cabinets, but didn’t want too much of a contrast, so we opted for a light slate gray. Stone Mason Gray to be exact!
Note how the wall color changes throughout the day. The first picture is evening and the next is midday. Sometimes green, sometimes blue. Painting, painting, more painting! However, we were so dang tired!
Progress!
We got super sick of painting and left it this way for a few months. However, the weirdness of the wall color with the lower cabinets finally got to us. We got back to it again and finished up. Fresh, crisp white walls…ahhh. Here are a couple of different angles, we love it! We put up our faux roman shades and put down our favorite rug.
Bada bing, bada boom!
Our goal was to make sure the room felt bright and flowed cohesively with the living room. We think we’ve accomplished that! Doesn’t it just make you want to bake a pie?! If you do, bring us a slice! Blessings and so much love to you!
