Hey there, thanks for visiting The Urban Brock, we are Robby and Leslie!
We started this site to document life and the fun things we are up to. Robby was recently diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s disease, it was crushing for us! We decided to slow down and focus on the things that bring us the greatest joy such as gardening, eating great food, and making our house a home. As true homebodies, a lot of time is spent at home, so it’s essential that our space has everything we need and love.
We have 1.3 acres where we reside and garden in Central Oklahoma. Although technically in city limits, our setup feels a bit more country.
Inside The Urban Brock
We’ve been updating our builder grade home to reflect our modern and simple style. We are transforming each room with fresh paint, decor, and plants. That’s right, we love to garden on the inside too!
Outside The Urban Brock
Things have gone surprisingly smooth gardening in our Oklahoma landscape, zone 7b. Oklahoma at times can experience all the seasons in one week! We have added trees and flower gardens to the front. In the back, we’ve done even more as we want our home and backyard chill place to be an oasis! A place where not only we, but others feel at home.
New trees, flower gardens, and an update to our organic vegetable garden have made us swoon! Bonus…our pool will be installed soon, say what?! Our gardening philosophy has been to just go for it. We’re not experts, but trying new things is our jam! We’ve been using a no till, wood chip method for our vegetable garden which has been super exciting. Gardening organically is where it’s at! We don’t want to feed ourselves or the ones we love things that could be harmful. As a vegetarian and pescatarian, we eat a lot of home grown foods.
We love the Lord, both work in education, have four beautiful children, and a very ornery Goldendoodle, Kaua’i! We hope to inspire you as we continue to beautify things at our favorite place, home!
*On a side note, we bought a beehive! We’re very interested in harvesting our own honey, but don’t have a colony of bees just yet. If you have any tips for us or a swarm looking for a new home, send them our way!
